Reflexology

What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a therapy based on the principle that reflexes on the feet (or hands) relate to internal organs and other structures of the body.  By using particular massage techniques on the feet different areas of the body can be targeted.   Reflexology is an ancient way of activating the body's own healing power.

Reflexology is a safe and natural therapy, suitable for everyone, and most people find it very relaxing. Each treatment will be tailored to your individual needs.

Reflexology can be used for general relaxation to bring a sense of well-being during times of stress, as well as being beneficial for a whole host of conditions.

What to expect?

At your first session I will take a detailed history before beginning to work on your feet. Anything you tell me will obviously remain strictly confidential.  You then relax on a chair or couch, remaining fully clothed (apart from your feet which need to be bare). It should not hurt at all (although a little temporary discomfort may be experienced at first) and it does not tickle! Most people find it a deeply relaxing treatment.

Indian Head Massage

This is a massage to the shoulders, neck, scalp and face and can help to release tension in these areas.  It is done with you seated in a chair.  I normally work over client’s clothing (so it is preferable to wear something without a collar) and without oil to avoid that greasy-haired look but if you prefer that I use an oil please let me know.  A treatment takes about 40 minutes but please leave an hour for your first appointment to allow time for a history to be taken.
